Pharaohs, with their pyramids and attendant elite, dominate our understandings of the Egyptian Old Kingdom. But did they really dominate Egyptian lives? This talk will explore different approaches for elucidating society and social structures, and will present an Old Kingdom full of complexity and individual agency.
